That hot sun behind me seems a long ways away now as I sit in my studio on the hemisphere that is tilting ever so slightly away from the sun. This photo is the last frame of a time-lapse that I shot for Exuma. The camera snapped this shot of me as I reached down to shut off the timer.
The time-lapse was shot on a Canon 5D mII mounted on a Kessler Pocket Dolly with the Elektra Drive and Oracle control system. Here are a couple shots of the same set-up from a time-lapse later that evening.

These very slow step-motor systems allow us to shoot motion control time-lapses in which the camera moves as it is shooting. The motion is almost imperceptible during shooting but when the time-lapse is sped up, it provides a nice, fluid movement to the shot. Below is part of another time-lapse in which the camera was pointed at the sky and moved along the dolly underneath a small, jagged rock arch on the beach.
Exuma relies heavily on time-lapse photography to capture the colors and patterns of the Bahamas. New cameras and techniques have allowed me to capture many elements of these islands including the movement of weather systems, tides and the movement of the stars and the Milky Way in ways that have never been seen before.
